    BSc (Hons) Games Programming

    About

    This games programming degree will help you become a master programmer and stay at the very forefront of the games evolution. You will develop unrivalled skills within programming and scripting, content generation, artificial intelligence and virtual and augmented reality.

    Master computer games programming and coding

    With no prior knowledge in coding or programming needed, this computer games programming degree in London will provide you with the tools and confidence to thrive in the competitive world of gaming. Working side by side with games artists and designers, you will develop an extensive knowledge of games engines and programming architecture.

    This course equips you with everything you need to excel in a coding career in the games industries. You will develop industry-level skillsets in programming and the ability to solve creative problems, whilst building the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team. 

    The BSc (Hons) Games Programming course curriculum will introduce students to programming languages (C++ and C#), games engines (Unreal and Unity), and the development of specialist skills within programming, scripting, procedural content generation, artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR).

    Collaborative practice, game jams and working with industry will be fundamental aspects of your academic journey. You will master game technologies and hone your ability to utilise industry-specific tools to develop games for mobile, indie and AAA console games.

    Sitting alongside the BA (Hons) Games Development course, this three-year computer games programming course reflects forward thinking industry practice in its approach to games programming and how it meshes with the other games development disciplines.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    • Diploma with high grades
    • Diploma from Technical / Commercial / Industrial / Health institutes
    • 2 A-levels at grade C or above, or an International Baccalaureate with minimum 24 points
    • A recognised International Foundation course from a UK institution

    English Program Requirements

    Most students from outside the UK need to submit an English language test as proof of their English language ability in order to study at foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate level, unless exempt by Ravensbourne or you meet UKVI exemptions from English language testing requirements.

    Start your application as early as possible by visiting our online applicant portal. Your online application will ask you to attach the following documents for review:

    • Personal statement
    • Portfolio or showreel (this depends on which course you are applying for)
    • Evidence of your relevant qualifications 
    • Your passport (photo page)
    • Two references
    • Any relevant scholarship information (if you have been awarded an external scholarship)

    Be sure to answer every question on the application form with as much detail as possible, so that our admissions officers can review your application. 

    Your application will be checked to verify that you have submitted all the required documents as well as your portfolio/showreel.

    If your application is successful at this stage, you will be sent a message via the online portal inviting you to an academic and a Student Route visa assessment interview (these may be held together or separately). If you are in the UK these will be in person, and if you are outside the UK they will take place via Skype. 

    Please note that all communication from Ravensbourne will be sent via the online portal, so please remember to check your account regularly. 

    You can expect to receive an outcome of your application within 5 working days of your assessment interviews.
