Our accredited MBA program provides a solid foundation in management theory, marketing, finance, corporate strategy and analytical thinking. It also provides the skills employers desire most—leadership, problem-solving, communication and time management. Depending on your professional goals, you can focus your MBA degree in general management or STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

The MBA degree is offered entirely online and can be completed in less than two years. We offer in-state tuition for all online MBA courses and do not require an undergraduate degree in business.

    What Is an MBA Degree?

A Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an advanced degree that develops your leadership skills and provides foundational knowledge in key business areas such as marketing and finance.

It is one of the most popular professional degrees worldwide, and is ideal if you want to pursue management positions and advance your career. It's also a great option if you're looking to make a career change, and move into a field such as management or entrepreneurship. Employers tend to prefer MBA graduates for their professional skills, hands-on experience and expert knowledge of business principles and relationships.

Who Is the MBA Designed For?

Our MBA program concentration in general management is designed for students of all academic backgrounds who are interested in gaining the skills to grow as business leaders and advance in their careers. Offering flexibility and convenience, it's a perfect option for working professionals.

The STEM MBA is a great fit for anyone interested in the intersection of business and aquatic resources. The program is unique to Alaska but also appeals broadly to the national and international business community with its focus on resource extraction industries. It's also particularly beneficial to students who are interested in developing more sustainable use of Alaskan and Arctic natural resources and industries.

    How to Apply

To start your adventure at UAF, your first step will be to apply for admission. We offer a fast and convenient online application.

Once you are admitted into a degree program at UAF, we’ll start preparing your I-20 — the form needed to apply for the F-1 student visa and to enter the U.S. in student status. This process can take up to 7-10 business days once all documents have been received.

You'll also send your official secondary school and/or university transcripts to a NACES-approved evaluation service and request a comprehensive course-by-course credential report. Transcripts from Canadian institutions (excluding Quebec) are exempt from this requirement; they may be sent directly from the issuing institution.
SpanTran is a NACES-member company that has created a custom application for UAF students. We recommend using the UAF SpanTran Evaluation Request Form to ensure you get the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate.

In order to issue your immigration documents, we must receive the UAF Financial Statement for International Students (PDF) and supporting documentation. We’ll also need a copy of your passport identification page.

Your immigration documents will be mailed to the address you provided, along with your official letter of acceptance and information about applying for your visa and travel to Alaska.

You must have a student visa to study in the United States. UAF offers documents for two student visa types (F and J) depending on the type of program you attend. As part of the application process, you’ll also need to schedule a visa interview.
