The interdisciplinary programme provides students with basic knowledge of business, economics, and business and economics education. Students can specialize depending on their discipline of study in the field of Business and Economics (Studienrichtung I), or in one of the following fields of General Education: Mathematics, Computer Sciences, German, English, French, Protestant Religion, Catholic Religion, Ethics/Philosophy or History (Studienrichtung II).
Students have to choose courses from compulsory optional modules according to their main field of study, e.g. Business and Economics Education, Management and Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Operations and Logistics Management, Environmental Management and Energy Economics, Learning and Human Resources Management, Transport Economics, Economic Policy and Political Economy, Financial Economics and Global Markets. In addition, they have to choose modules from the complementary area Business Sciences: Business Informatics, Statistics and Econometrics, and Commercial languages. The study programme ends with writing a research-oriented Bachelor thesis.
The programme aims at preparing students to identify business and economics problems, to analyse these scientifically and to work out solutions.
