    About

As a leader, you'll be challenged with meeting your organisation's objectives by deploying key resources such as time, people and money efficiently and effectively. And, as businesses and people become ever-more connected, if you can speak the international language of maths and have specific knowledge about the business world, you'll be in a great position to shape the world of tomorrow.

Our Business and Mathematics course, delivered jointly by Aston Business School and the School of Engineering and Applied Science, is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and experience you'll need to embark on your career.

All organisations and businesses need people who can problem-solve, plan and manage. With a combination of maths and the management and leadership skills needed in business, you'll be in high demand.

The programme combines economics, finance and business oriented modules with applied maths modules, preparing you for a high-level career in the private or public sectors.

Our joint honours programme enables you to choose a combination of maths and economics modules in your second and final years and will ensure your learning experience is exciting and relevant for tomorrow's challenges. You'll also have the opportunity to develop key employability skills including communication, presentation and report writing. On this course you spend your third year in a paid professional placement of direct relevance to your studies. This placement will give you invaluable practical experience in a real work environment and further enhance your career prospects. Both Schools have strong links with major employers ranging from the biggest communication companies to the pharmaceutical industry.

For our joint honours maths students, our current and recent placement employers include companies in the UK and abroad such as: Lloyds Banking, UK Department of Health and Social Care, BT, Gazprom, TJX Europe, Warner Bros, Walt Disney, NPower, Argos Financial, Deutsche Bank, 3M, National Grid, Harrods, Merck Chemicals, Ofgem, PWC, CrossCountry Trains, Black & Decker, and Renault.
