    Business Economics and Finance

    About

The global financial services industry has generated a strong demand for economists with specialised knowledge of financial systems and markets. By combining both economics and finance, this course equips you to succeed in this sector.

On our BSc (Hons) Business Economics and Finance degree you will study how firms and consumers behave in different markets, how capital markets operate and how financial decisions can improve the performance and efficiency of organisations.

This economics degree equips you to interpret, communicate and apply economic and financial information, appraise alternative investment opportunities and improve strategic decision making, portfolio planning and risk management.

This degree includes an optional year on placement or studying abroad which will help you stand out to employers and equip you for a wide range of rewarding careers. You will be taught by leading academics in their fields who apply the latest research insights and professional best-practice into their teaching. You will also have the opportunity to tailor your degree as well by choosing from a range of optional modules in more specialist subjects, especially in your final year.

Skills for employability is a key part of the Loughborough experience and can really boost your job prospects. This degree has a module specifically built in to help you develop your study and employability skills.

The first two years of the course develop your understanding of the essential core of economics. You have the opportunity to study more specialised subjects such as financial economics in the second year and asset pricing and/or corporate finance and derivatives in the final year. The final year offers you more flexibility to specialise even further by choosing optional modules that are best suited to your career aspirations.

    English Program Requirements

Some Schools/Departments may require higher levels of English language than those specified. The requirements needed, will be sent to you in your offer communication.

For Research Degrees, some Schools/Departments may ask for a higher standard of English language qualifications due to the nature of the research work involved. Details will be included in your offer letter if this applies.

English language tests should have been taken within the previous two years. Where a school-based qualification is used to meet the English language requirement, this should have been taken within the past ten years. Evidence of continuing use of English, whether in the workplace or elsewhere, in the intervening period may be considered as supporting evidence of English language ability where a qualification was taken more than ten years ago.
