The BA (Hons) Business Studies with Management course embraces contemporary approaches to teaching and learning to deliver a flexible programme that can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis. The course delivery supports a range of learning styles and allows you to study in a way that is suitable for you. Embedded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) supports you with understanding of your personal career aspirations and recognition of achievement. The course also includes the opportunity to gain an additional CMI “award” accredited qualification, which will be included in the BA (Hons) in Business Studies with Management course. Whether you see yourself working in the private, public or voluntary sectors or starting your own business this course will offer the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of contemporary business and management techniques and issues and will help you to develop the transferable skills that are needed to progress in either your current position or a new one. This degree will give you the knowledge, skills and attitudes that you will need if you want to progress in business and to take the next step to build your career in a range of sectors and industries. The programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop employability skills and expand your understanding of contemporary business issues. You will learn to think strategically and will have an opportunity to develop an entrepreneurial mindset with a global outlook. The first year will provide you with a thorough basis in key business areas such as: management, finance, operations and events management giving you an understanding of global challenges and issues in the contemporary digital workplace. It is intended to give you a solid foundation in general business skills but with a focus on new technology and enterprise. The second year of study will build upon the first year, providing you with the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of business and management and awareness of contemporary business issues. You will use the skills that you developed in year 1 to analyse business problems in a UK and global context. In the final year of study, knowledge and understanding of business issues and management is consolidated through a much greater degree of personal study and research. Modules will encourage you to use your independent research skills to delve into contemporary issues, to allow you to pursue areas of study that interest you and benefit your future career plans. Upon successful completion of your final year, you will have developed a deep understanding and knowledge of organisations, the external environment in which they operate and how they are managed, with an emphasis on contemporary, ethical and global issues.
