    California SLP Licensure

    About

    The speech-language pathology license is required to work as a speech-language pathologist in all settings in California except for the public school and in certain exempt federal employment settings. The license is awarded by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board (SLPAB) of the Medical Board of California.

    The Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board regulates the practices of speech-language pathology, audiology and hearing aid dispensing in California by licensing those who meet minimum standards of competency.

    Students should be familiar with the specific requirements for licensure during their last year of graduate studies. A copy of the "Student Manual for Licensure in Speech Pathology and Audiology" may be obtained directly from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and SLPAB at the following addresses and telephone numbers:

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    International freshmen must meet the following eligibility requirements:

    • Visit First-time Freshmen Eligibility Requirements;
    • Demonstrate English language proficiency; and
    • Explanation of Academic Activities After High School (if you graduated at the time of application)

    TRANSCRIPTS

    After applying to the Cal State Fullerton, you will be asked to submit transcripts. This includes high school/secondary school transcripts, as well as high school graduation date (if completed). Please note:

    • If admitted, official transcripts will be required from each school listed on your application, grades 9-12.
    • All academic records received become official university property and cannot be returned or reissued.
    • If documents are not in English, you should submit the original-language transcript or mark sheets.

    If you are currently in your senior year of high school, you must submit 7th semester transcripts. Upon high school graduation, you will be required to submit final official transcripts.

    How to Apply

    2. Prepare application materials such as transcripts, test scores (AP/IB), current and planned courses, annual household income, citizenship status and social security number (if available).
    3. Credit/Debit Card or Paypal account to pay the $70 application fee (per campus), unless you qualify for an application fee waiver. Important: Cal State Apply automatically considers for an application fee waiver based on the information provided in the application, and provides immediate eligibility for a fee waiver. The use of fee waiver forms is not required.
