Seasoned faculty members who’ve led churches through seasons of growth and difficulty will be your guide. In many cases, your professors are teaching you while they’re on campus and leading congregations and small groups when they’re not.Your learning will go beyond the walls of your classrooms, too. Every Christian Studies student will complete a 150-hour internship. This opportunity is a collaboration between you and your on-campus and off-campus directors. You’ll work with them to create an internship that addresses the specific areas of ministry in which you want to lead.At Anderson, there is no shortage of real-world chances for you to love people, lead a church and preach.Career OutlookWhen you enter your first pastoral position, you want a realistic view of what it means to be a pastor in today’s world. Your Pastoral Ministry concentration does just that.You will leave Anderson equipped to navigate the nuances of leading your congregation and your staff. Counseling, teaching, preaching, hiring and firing staff; they all will be a part of the real-world skill set you will bring to churches. Your training will prepare you for a wide variety of pastoral positions, whether it be leading a church or ministry, being a chaplain within an organization or starting your own Christian non-profit.The concentration also serves as an excellent option if you’re already working in ministry and want to expand and supplement what you already know.
