Cognitive Science is the interdisciplinary study of intelligent behaviour in humans, animals, and machines. It encompasses the traditional disciplines of Psychology, Computer Science, Neuroscience, Linguistics, and Philosophy. By taking a computational view of the mind, Cognitive Science seeks to establish a mechanistic understanding of mental processes underpinning intelligent behaviour, informing our understanding of our mind as well as guiding the design and development of intelligent systems.
Undergraduate Cognitive Science studies at McGill are truly interdisciplinary, with five principal areas which contribute to the Cognitive Science Program:
- Computer Science
- Linguistics
- Neuroscience
- Philosophy
- Psychology
