    About

    Overview

Versatile business professionals in areas such as finance, marketing and business systems, are highly sought after in the global job market.

This degree is designed to hone your skills in one or more business disciplines, readying you for a specialised career in dynamic industries. It’s a great choice for pursuing careers such as an accountant, financial planner, business analyst, tourism marketing manager, talent acquisition specialist or supply chain manager.

You’ll begin by studying a suite of core units in business. You'll explore value-creation in business, learn to use financial information to make informed and responsible decisions, and develop business intelligence and analytical capabilities to interpret data. This will provide you with a strong base to build on as you progress through the course. You'll also choose your preferred discipline/s, and begin study in this area.

In your second year, you'll continue to develop expertise in your chosen discipline/s. You’ll further develop your decision-making and leadership skills, which are essential in a future marketplace. You’ll also benefit from exposure to industry through field trips, work-related tasks, guest lectures and industry projects.

In your final year you’ll undertake a capstone experience, enabling you to apply your skills in an industry environment.

Real-world learning is an important component of this degree. Depending on your chosen major, you might gain hands-on skills in industry software such as LSEG Workspace for stock market trading and analysis, or TalkWalker for social media marketing and management.

As a graduate of this course, you’ll have the business acumen and specialised skillsets required to thrive in your chosen career.

    Customise your degree

Step A: Choose your primary major

You’ll select your major during your first semester, to align the Bachelor of Commerce to your dream career:

    1. Available to study online

    2. Available as part of a defined double major

    Step B: Complement your major

You'll select one of three options:

    Option 1: A second major

With this option you benefit from studying two disciplines in equal depth and graduating with a double major. You can choose a second Commerce major, or one of the following majors from the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Creative Arts:

Note: This option is not available if you choose Business Information Systems Extension or Property Development and Valuation Extension. If you choose Accounting as your first major, you can choose a second major in Audit Analytics, Economics, Finance or Taxation.

    Option 2: Two specialisations

A specialisation contains half the number of units as a major. Specialisations enable you to broaden your degree by studying two complementary disciplines alongside your business major.

Choose one of the following combinations:

    • two business specialisations
    • one business specialisation and a specialisation from selected areas in arts, design or science

    Business specialisations offered are:

    View full list of specialisations.

Note: This option is not available if you choose Business Information Systems Extension as your first major. If you choose Accounting or Property Development and Valuation Extension as your first major, you will have the option of studying one specialisation.

    Option 3: Elective units

Choose eight elective units from any area, provided you meet the unit prerequisites. You could also study one business specialisation and four elective units.

Note: Options will be limited if you choose Accounting, Business Information Systems Extension or Property Development and Valuation Extension as your first major. These majors may have elective units within the structure that could be used to gain a specialisation.

Step C: Choose your capstone experience

In your final year, you will also undertake a capstone experience to further your practical skills and international business knowledge.

You’ll have a choice of several capstone experiences*:
