Gain the interpersonal and group communication skills necessary to be competitive in all professions with an associate degree in communication from American Public University (APU).

APU's AA in Communication focuses on interpersonal, intercultural, and mass communication; communication and gender; ethics; and public speaking. Our Associate of Arts in Communication is particularly suited to those with professional interests in public relations, marketing, journalism, business, public policy, corporate training, writing, and social media. This program also serves as preparation for APU's Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

You will be taught by expert faculty. Many have had professional engagements with media enterprises and government agencies. They share their real-world knowledge to bring your academic experience full circle.

2. Deliver a presentation appropriate for a selected communication setting or event
3. Identify issues and apply techniques related to interpersonal and/or intercultural communication
4. Show your understanding of communication ethics and the dynamics and processes of small group communication
5. Explain the history and concepts involved with mass communication

English is the official language of the American Public University System. Other than foreign language courses, all classroom requirements are to be completed by the student in English without the use of any translation. To ensure that students have the opportunity to succeed in our courses, students who are not U.S. citizens may be asked to provide verification of English proficiency in order to enroll for academic credit in any of our courses.

APUS accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)-Academic Version, ACT English, SAT Verbal, or WAEC for the purpose of meeting the English language requirement. International students will be blocked from registration, or dropped from any initial registration, if it is determined that English proficiency is required to complete the admissions record.
