    About

Our Master's programme in computational science is an interdisciplinary programme. You can do a Master's thesis in one of these three fields: genomics (bioinformatics) physics mathematics It is a scientific programme with a strong focus on research, theoretical and computational methods. In the Master's in “Computational Science”, you will gain the qualification to carry out independent research work. In this flexible programme, you will strengthen your knowledge and skills depending on the areas of interest. After passing your exams, you will be awarded with a Master of Science degree. The Master of Science in Computational Science corresponds to the focus of the University of Regensburg with respect to high performance computing. Students will learn a variety of techniques that are relevant not only for research and development but also for academic careers. The use of computational methods, especially high performance computing, is of great importance. The programme takes an interdisciplinary approach; it is a collaboration of the departments of physics, medicine and mathematics. Simulations in high energy physics and solid state physics as well as mathematics employ a variety of cutting edge computing techniques. Analysis of large data sets form the backbone of research in genomics and bioinformatics. Students will choose a primary subject to focus on, but they will also take courses from another subject to broaden their understanding of science.
