    Computer Engineering

    Computer Engineering advances humankind by designing the underlying digital hardware, computing networks, and software systems that impact our everyday lives. USM offers a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. Students are expected to complete a minimum of 126 credit hours.

    The Computer Engineering curriculum deals with all aspects of designing, building and programming computer systems. Computer Engineering combines fundamentals of computer science and electrical engineering in one major, as it introduces students to both hardware and software of computer systems. Computer Engineering core topics include the following items.

    • Digital Logic
    • Digital and Analog Electronics
    • Computer Architecture and Embedded Systems
    • Internet-of-Things and Cybersecurity
    • Mobile and Wireless Computing
    • Hardware Design, and Reconfigurable computation

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Strong Freshman applicants will present a 2.5 minimum GPA in core academic subjects. It is understood that most foreign education systems do not follow the same core curriculum as taught in U.S. high schools. Therefore, each applicant will be evaluated on criteria particular to the educational system of the country in which they completed their studies. However, it is expected that a college preparatory curriculum include courses in English, Math, Science, and Social Science.
