Computer Information Systems

Technology is an integral component of modern business in every industry around the globe, making a career in computer information systems in-demand and essential to organizations of all kinds.

The Louisiana Tech Computer Information Systems curriculum–encompassing project management, telecommunications, networking, databases, programming, and information security–empowers you with the solid technical skills to place you at a competitive advantage. And, as CIS is all about the intersection of business and technology, we emphasize interpersonal communication as well. Through our core curriculum, you'll also gain a background in finance, marketing, and management, giving you the real-world business expertise to set you apart.

A series of information assurance courses have been created to give the CIS student a focus developing skills for positions in systems and network security–you will learn to detect, report, and resolve cyber threats. Course content also covers the use of code encryption to securely pass information between systems, building and using secure audio and video communications equipment, developing tamper protection products, and providing trusted information solutions. Students master the skills of assessing, auditing evaluation, testing network and systems security, and conducting forensic investigations. Students also learn how to perform information systems risk analysis and plan for disaster recovery and business continuity in our state-of-the-art Digital Information Forensics Lab.

Step 1 – Completing the Application

TIP: You will need to have the following information handy when completing your application

• Names and contact information for references – some programs require them
• Names and dates of all post-secondary Universities attended where credit was attempted (whether or not credit was earned)
• Date of most recent or highest GRE/GMAT test and the registration number. (Not required for Executive MBA, Concurrent MAcc/MBA, or Graduate Certificate applicants) The test must be no older than 5 years.
• Unofficial transcripts for uploading
• International students — date of most recent or highest TOEFL/IELTS test score; scores cannot be older than 2 years of age
• International students completing ELS 112 Certification — upload a copy of the ELS Certificate
• International student — English translation of foreign transcripts
• Official transcripts from all institutions attended must be submitted

Step 2 – Creating Your Account 

1. Click here to APPLY NOW.
2. Select Create an account under “First-time users.”
3. Enter your email address, first name, last name and birthdate.
4. Check your email for a temporary PIN and enter on screen, and login in.
5. Create a password. Password must have:
   1. At least one letter
   2. At least one capital letter
   3. At least one number
   4. Be at least 12 characters
6. Once you’ve set your password, Click “Start New Application” on the next screen and select “Graduate Application” From the drop down menu.
