    About

The innovations and discoveries made by computer scientists are transforming the way we learn, work, and live. As a computer scientist, you will be able to use your skills to impact and improve your field of interest, from the medical field to self-driving cars to automated farming.

    You're not a user. You're a builder.

Acadia’s Jodrey School of Computer Science will help you move beyond being just a user of computers. You will learn how to design and implement computer systems that solve real-world problems.

We offer you an excellent experience during your university career. Our programs are accredited by the Canadian Information Technology Professionals Society (CIPS). This ensures that you will receive the best education possible. Small class sizes will provide you with a friendly learning environment. You will work closely with your professors.

You can choose from among the following programs:

    • Bachelor of Computer Science
    • Bachelor of Computer Science with Honours
    • Bachelor of Applied Computer Science
    • Bachelor of Science with Honours in Computer Science

The Bachelor of Computer Science degree is a 4-year program meant to meet and exceed CIPS and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) standards for undergraduate programs. Our program provides a mix of the following:

    • computational theory
    • systems and architecture knowledge
    • problem-solving
    • systems analysis
    • application development skills and experience

The degree requires that you complete all core courses with grades of C- or better and a PGPA of at least 2.0.

For the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science, we offer defined options in the following:

    • software development
    • game development
    • data analytics
    • mobile and ubiquitous computing
    • second major option
    • interdisciplinary study option

The BACS and BSc also offer options to take a second major or an interdisciplinary minor.

Our programs are designed for students who do not have any programming experience. If you do have programming experience, please let us know. We may be able to fast-track your first-year courses.

As you learn, you will also develop skills in interpersonal relations, communication, teamwork, project management, and entrepreneurship. Our second major and interdisciplinary study options allow you to combine computer science with other areas of science, arts and professional studies at Acadia.

Acadia’s award-winning co-op program allows you to work at leading software companies during your educational journey, helping you to earn money while you study. The co-op program boasts high placement rates at companies from across Canada.
