    Computer Technology

    About

American Public University offers an associate degree in computer technology combining interpersonal communication skill building, with basic computing, web development fundamentals, productivity applications, and programming essentials.

APU's computer technology associate degree program is a less math- and theory-intensive approach and it is ideally suited for those with interests in computer and network support, IT and technical support, and database and system administration. The program will enable you to complement the industry certifications needed for most IT jobs, such as Security+ and A+, with a degree.

Upon completion, you may consider pursuing Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Excel and Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) certifications.

NOTE: Completion of this program does not award any professional certifications, but may be helpful in preparing to earn such certifications.

    1. Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues and customers
    2. Identify computing requirements needed to solve problems
    3. Build a basic computer system using appropriate hardware and software technologies
    4. Apply techniques, skills, and tools for software application use and web development
    5. Complete projects to demonstrate your ability to use technology
