    Computing and the Arts (MA)

    About

The MA in Computing and the Arts combines two of the most popular creative study programmes to bring together two things that go together: media design and audio design. In the fields of creative programming and technology as well as design, art and music, this programme creates a set-up for success through a strong focus on practice-oriented study modules and real hands-on learning in cross-functional and interdisciplinary groups of highly motivated creative personalities. The MA in Computing and the Arts is a contemporary Master's degree programme, based around the fields of technology, art and audiovisual design in an economic context. It focuses on the skills and knowledge that students need in order to successfully enter the market and to create a strong artistic identity. In pooling art and design practice with agile working methods in cross-functional teams, aiming at new solutions for new problem sets and contemporary constraints, you need a strong basis of reliable action competences.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

The MA programme in Computing and the Arts is aimed at applicants with a first degree in music, audio or visual design, media arts or a similar subject (at least 180 credits). It is a non-consecutive Master's programme. We will specifically be looking for a strong motivation to express yourself and to design as well as for a solid understanding of computer-based implementation of sound or design. Skills in either visual or audio programming are recommended, even though you don't need to have already mastered C++. What really counts is your passion to express your ideas in audio-visual concepts. Once your application has been received, including all the required documents, and it has been established that the course content is appropriate for you, we would like to have the opportunity to meet you in person and find out more about your motivation to study Computing and the Arts at the hdpk. We will invite you to an interview with your future professors and lecturers in Berlin. In this interview, we would like to learn more about your artistic aptitude, previous experience, creativity and past project work.
