    Explore the origins and motivations for terrorism, terrorist strategy, and terrorist tactics with the counterterrorism studies associate degree at American Public University (APU).

    APU's Associate of Arts in Counter Terrorism Studies will provide you with a greater understanding of our post-9/11 world along with the complexities of counterterrorism.

    This online AA in Counter Terrorism program will also introduce you to the challenges and complexities associated with counterterrorism efforts that span the national security spectrum. Additionally, this program prepares you for involvement within public safety organizations.

    1. Explore the theory and history of terrorism and political violence
    2. Identify different domestic and international terrorist groups, their leadership, and their tactics
    3. Recognize the motivations of terrorist leaders and their followers
    4. Determine the evolving nature of domestic and international terrorism

    English Program Requirements

    English is the official language of the American Public University System. Other than foreign language courses, all classroom requirements are to be completed by the student in English without the use of any translation. To ensure that students have the opportunity to succeed in our courses, students who are not U.S. citizens may be asked to provide verification of English proficiency in order to enroll for academic credit in any of our courses.

    APUS accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)-Academic Version, ACT English, SAT Verbal, or WAEC for the purpose of meeting the English language requirement. International students will be blocked from registration, or dropped from any initial registration, if it is determined that English proficiency is required to complete the admissions record.
