    About

Technology has always been a motor for the art of filmmaking. It has given a voice to silent films, colour to the classics and a universe of visual effects to blockbusters. What are the possibilities today if we let the creative technical minds experiment at a film school? The Creative Technologies Master's programme combines audio-visual media technologies and software development studies with an artistic-creative exploration of novel forms of expression in film and digital media art. Creative-artistic computer scientists as well as technically oriented media designers come together in the context of the Film University to experiment with technology, creativity and film with an interdisciplinary approach. Focus are all mechanisms that contribute to the magic of films: from graphics, sound and visual effects over traditional production processes to novel forms of storytelling in XR (Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, Augmented Reality), cross-media, and interactive. The long history of the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF and its fundamental values and resources offer the first steps of a successful career. As part of a university that teaches film practices and is equally research-oriented, the Creative Technologies Master's programme is unique in Germany. With the CTech programme, you will gain the following technical-formal expertise: Design and application of modern audio-visual media technologies, such as VR systems Software development Theoretical backgrounds for audio & graphics Research methodologies and analytical problem solving Understanding of the current state of the art in the research fields of media computer science, digital media and film production You will apply this expertise in a self-chosen, often creative-artistic context. Possible topic areas are: Creative coding, graphics & audio Novel forms of film Interactive storytelling Digital media art Film production processes Academic and artistic research Innovative prototype development In the CTech programme, you will gain solid technical understandings and practical production experience. But you will also train your mind creatively as well as analytically, thus improving your problem-solving skills. Through the inclusion and reflection of research publications, you will become acquainted with the current state of the art, and you will also foster your understanding of the big picture. The ultra-modern technical infrastructure and equipment for media productions as well as the large community of creatives at the Film University will give you the exclusive opportunity to bring your ideas to life on a professional level. You will build reference work and a strong network as the first steps of your successful career!
