Criminology and Social Sciences (Top-Up)

The pathway is intended to deliver work-ready BA hons graduates with the skills necessary to work in the local economy within the public sector or related organisations. Criminology with Social Science is subject area which can lead in to a number of different career pathways. Criminology with Social science BAH students have been employed in a number of career areas including: • Social Science • Education • Central and Local Government • Finance • Health & Social Care • Law • Public Services Students registered for the programme will be encouraged to seek out and undertake voluntary work in statutory, voluntary and community organisations related to and supporting the Criminology and Social Sciences sector. This is not a placement but a situated learning experience to gain an understanding of the agencies involved in the Criminology and Social Sciences sector and identifies potential future employment opportunities. This learning experience seeks to enhance skills, to develop and practice personal and professional values, ethics, standards and boundaries. There is a strong ethos of collaboration and shared learning underpinning all teaching and learning activities, ensuring governmental drivers pertaining to employees educated to level four and five are recognised and embraced for the benefit of the criminology and social science based sectors and the professional workforce itself. You will be encouraged and guided to work together to network professionally and develop your scholarly ability, thus maximising your potential for success, both academically and as a practitioner.
