    Dance: Create, Connect and Perform

    The Alfred University Interdisciplinary Dance Program is an innovative leader in dance studies that fosters creative research, inquiry and imagination through the art of dance and dance making. The department is open to students of all levels, regardless of experience or past training. Interdisciplinary course offerings focus on composition, dance technique, performance skills and dance’s historical and aesthetic knowledge.

    We prepare you with the knowledge, skills and appreciation of dance, fostering an awareness of the unique contributions of dance to embodied knowledge and outreach to broader communities. We offer a curriculum and collaborative environment that enables you to succeed and to a live of life of continuous personal discovery and service to others.

    English Program Requirements

    The language of instruction at Alfred University is English.

    All undergraduate international applicants are required to submit official scores from either the SAT, the ACT, TOEFL or IELTS examinations. If an international student has taken classes in a US University or college; they must apply as a transfer student, and we will review all English courses on the transcript(s) to show English proficiency.

    Alfred University reserves the right to request undergraduate applicants to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores if their SAT or ACT scores are inconclusive.

    How to Apply

    You are considered to be an international student:

    • If you are not a citizen of the United States
    • If you are currently in the United States with a visa
    • If you have applied for permanent residency but have not been approved

    All applicants who are not US citizens or US permanent residents at the time of application are considered international applicants. If you become a US citizen or permanent resident after you’ve applied to Alfred University, you may submit documentation of this change (a copy of your Certificate of Citizenship, Certificate of Naturalization, or Permanent Resident Card) to the Office of Admissions to update your citizenship status. US citizens and permanent residents, no matter where in the world they live or go to school, are not considered international applicants but will be reviewed for admission within the context of their school cohort.
