About

The School of Dentistry was founded in 1963 as part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Hacettepe University. It was the second dentistry school in Turkey and established as "Faculty of Dentistry" in 1971. The first graduates of Hacettepe University Dental Faculty were in 1968. The number of graduates has been 3772, post graduates at the PhD level, 317, and 83 at the specialist levelup to 2018. As of today, 635 students are having education. Full- time students are accepted to the Faculty. The language of education is Turkish. Students who get high score at the university entrance exam primarily prefer our Faculty to have a DDS degree after completing five year dentistry programme. The programme includes theoretical and practical courses including basic science and dentistry as well as ethics, statistics, communication and research. Elective courses are organized to give knowledge and skill in different areas according to the interests of the students. Education, research and health services in our Faculty are carried on by 73 faculty, 55 Specialists and 95 Research Assistants in 8 Departments. Departments are in the first part of our new and modern building we moved in 2009. In the second part, there are sterilisation unit, Dean`s office and administrative offices. There are 4 classrooms (190-220 student capacity, computer and video projection), student locker rooms and cabinets, art square, bulletin boards, student lounge and computer room at Floor -1, Maxillofacial Radiology Department, Ergun AydÄ±nlÄ±k lab, Prosthodontics Clinic, Integrated clinic and Dental Store at Entrance floor, technical service units, research lab, pre-clinical simulation labs owed to Departments of Endodontics and Restorative Treatment at Floor A. At the other floors, there are departments and clinics of Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Periodontology, Endodontics, Restorative Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. Clinics serve about 80.000 patients per year. Faculty has been a member of ADEE(Association for Dental Education in Europe) since 2004 and exchanging student and staff with European countries through Erasmus programme since 2007.

Entry Requirements

To be accepted to dentistry programme, Turkish secondary education degree or a foreign equivalent degree should be taken. Students should have a passing grade from the national "Undergraduate Placement Exam (LYS)" on the basis of MF scoring type and fulfill the requirements of Higher Education Council(YÃ–K) of Turkey. Registrations of students are done on the days determined and declared by the Presidency of the University. Requirements and quotas for foreign students who will be accepted to undergraduate programs are determined by the University and can be followed on Registrar`s Office website each year on May.
