Doctoral Degree Programme in Gerontology

About

Since 2007, the Interdisciplinary Center for Aging Research (ICA) has operated - alongside ongoing cooperation in research - the joint doctoral programme "Gerontology" offering structured courses for graduate students in the field of Gerontology (PhD) and neighbouring disciplines (psychology, psychiatry, sports science). The doctoral programme provides intensive academic support in the implementation of a dissertation project to achieve the best possible result. It also serves to improve scientific exchange with other doctoral students as well as with national and international experts in the field of ageing research. In case of admission into the doctoral programme, professors and doctoral students jointly create an individualised plan for achieving the doctoral degree. This plan includes a detailed schedule for activities within the programme, for visiting and presenting at national and international scientific meetings, etc. Every semester, each doctoral student has to present the progress of their scientific work as part of the regular doctoral colloquium.
