    A one- to two-year postgraduate course of study at the Faculty of Law of the University of Münster A particular requirement of the doctoral programme is that the candidates must submit a doctoral thesis showing their ability to carry out independent research and constituting a substantial contribution to the legal field. The doctoral examination consists of the doctoral dissertation and an oral examination.

    In order to be admitted to the Doctor Juris programme, the applicant is required to have completed a "Magister Legum" or a Master's programme in "German Law" at any law faculty in Germany ("magna cum laude").
