This new Higher National Diploma in Documentary Film Production course has been developed in consultation with national companies and freelance professionals and is aimed at people with a passion for storytelling in the real world who wish to develop their creative skills to a professional level. Planned to run for the first time in September 2021, this HND top-up course is currently awaiting final validation at the time of being published on UCAS (May 2020) About the course The course is informed by professional practitioners and you will have the opportunity to work on projects that reflect the wide range of outlets now available for moving images. You will investigate how films are made, from script to screen, through organising shoots, filming, editing, and distributing. HND Top-up modules may include: • professional development • collaborative project • documentary film-making • emerging technologies • advanced editing • scriptwriting Assessment Assessment is continuous, being a combination of individual and group presentations, compiling research portfolios and online journals. There are no examinations. Qualification awarded Higher National Diploma in Creative Media Production (Film) Bursaries We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Your career and progression From the Higher National Diploma, graduates could progress to our BA (Hons) Digital Media Design Top-up degree, validated by Nottingham Trent University; or a similar Top-up course at another provider (subject to entry requirements). Alternatively, they may wish to seek professional employment in the global creative industries sector with documentary film career opportunities including: director, producer, editor, cinematographer, camera operator, scriptwriter and sound and/or lighting engineer.
