About

Future challenges for efficient, safe, and environmentally-friendly shipping will require a smart combination of competencies for ship building and ship operation. This Bachelorâ€™s programme implements an innovative approach based on the high standards of German engineering science. The Bachelorâ€™s programme is focused on the growing demand for marine engineers in Indonesia, Asia and around the world. It was designed by Hochschule Wismar University of Applied Sciences and ITS Surabaya, both of which have a superb international reputation and the highest standards in higher maritime education. By combining the strengths of both, the universities have created a new outstanding programme for future marine engineers. The partners use the Polimarin Semarang, the former Semarang Growth Centre, a leading maritime education and training centre in Southeast Asia built in cooperation between the German and Indonesian governments. The entire study programme is held at ITS Surabaya with the support of four professors from Wismar University and several guest lecturers from the international maritime industry. A diploma from a senior high school or equivalent as acknowledged by the governments of Indonesia and Mecklenburg-West Pomerania (Germany) or Diploma-III graduate with NAME background and GPA of 2.75 or better (on a four-point scale) or Successful completion of professional training and at least three years of working practice Successful admission examination
