    Overview Students in the East Asian Studies program of Emory University spend at least a semester in China, Korea, or Japan (alternate destinations are also encouraged), developing a deep understanding of the region and creating lasting ties to it.The mission of Emory's East Asian Studies Program (EASP) is to support and advocate for research, teaching, and scholarly activities related to East Asia at Emory and in the Atlanta community.A core component of our mission is to encourage and facilitate direct exchange between East Asia and the United States. Our majors spend at least a semester in China, Korea, or Japan (alternate destinations are also encouraged), developing a deep understanding of the region and creating lasting ties to it. East Asia is one of the most dynamic and fascinating regions on the planet, and East Asian Studies at Emory offers a gateway to better understanding of its past and present.
