About

The Master's programme East European Studies provides its students with ample knowledge of Eastern Europe's history, culture, politics, sociology, and economics. The interdisciplinary programme East European Studies develops competencies relating to East-Central, South-Eastern, and Eastern Europe. Graduates of the two-year course of study become knowledgeable and practice-oriented experts on Eastern Europe. They can pursue careers in academia as well as in many other professional fields. The degree programme builds on a first university degree (BA or equivalent qualification) and is designed primarily for students with a first degree in political science, sociology, cultural studies, history, or economics. Students have the opportunity to deepen their previous specialisation in an Eastern Europe-focused core discipline and to supplement it with other disciplines. The programme also includes a practice-oriented project module and an internship. The aim of the Master's programme is to create future Eastern Europe experts in the above-named disciplines by providing not only an academic basis, but also practical experience.
