    About

    Are you interested in managing or restoring wildland, rangeland or plant communities? The ecological management and restoration major is an interdisciplinary program that encompasses fields of ecology, applied plant biology and the social sciences. Students in the major learn how natural and managed ecosystems function and interact with the natural environment, human society and social change. Graduates will be prepared to face the challenge of managing and repairing ecological systems so the systems reliably supply human needs while conserving and sustaining ecological services and diversity.

    Entry Requirements

    You will gain a solid foundation in the biological and physical sciences followed by advanced courses to develop your understanding of ecological and botanical sciences. You will learn how plant propagation and physiology, soil science, genetics, and plant and wildlife ecology and evolution are related to the restoration and management of communities and ecosystems. You will gain hands-on experience through a combination of laboratory courses, field courses and internships.

    English Program Requirements

    A strong understanding of the English language is important to your success at UC Davis. If you have been studying in the United States for fewer than three (3) years and your native language and school language of instruction prior to your study in the United States was not English, you must demonstrate English proficiency. Meeting this requirement through the AP exam, IB exams or transferable college courses also satisfy the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR).
