    Economics MSc

    About

The Economics masters programme (MSc) is run by Leipzig Universitys Faculty of Economics and Management Science, where students can also study the subject at postgraduate and doctoral level.

It is designed to last four semesters. Students are required to complete compulsory, compulsory elective, and elective modules as well as a masters thesis. A semester abroad is possible. Our masters programme has both research-oriented and practical foci.

Against the backdrop of a sound methodological basis, in teaching and research students discuss policy-relevant issues of a national and international nature. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnizs motto of theory with practice” is of central importance. The core subjects of the compulsory programme emphasise certain aspects of theory and economic policy, which are then explored in greater detail in the elective modules. As an introduction to research, students can use an elective module to undertake a research internship in cooperation with a chair.

The MA in European Integration in East Central Europe is a practically oriented programme focusing on economic and political processes of integration and Europeanisation within the EU, especially in East Central Europe. Students acquire knowledge of European and international harmonisation trends, diffusion and economic processes as well as the integration prerequisites, processes and characteristics of politics in East Central Europe. The programme aims to enable students to acquire expertise on the process of European political and economic integration, with a special focus on the particularities of Central and Eastern European countries; use analytical methods to comprehend and systematically present the complex issues surrounding political and economic integration; be able to independently assess and evaluate the process of European political, economic and legal integration and the specific effects in each case on different regions, demographics and interest groups within the EU; develop practical concepts, analyses and services on the basis of this knowledge.
