    Overview The Education - Curriculum and Instruction program of California State University Los Angeles is a program designed for teachers and administrators who may choose one of the following areas of emphasis depending upon their background. All students take a core set of classes that will give them a solid background in research, urban leadership and curriculum with 21st century learning outcomes. All students also have a choice of taking a comprehensive examination or conduct research to write a thesis/project in a research area of their choice for their culminating experience.Areas of emphasisEmphasis One: Leadership in Urban SchoolsStudents may choose this emphasis if they are interested in a middle or high school level. Courses are geared for Urban settings specifically focusing on social change, school reform and reflective thinking. I want to find another Master Course Emphasis Two: Creative Literacies and LiteratureStudents may choose this emphasis if they are interested in a K through 12 level. This emphasis is particularly for those educators who may not have a strong background in teaching per se but are interested in education for the whole child. Courses are geared for Arts in Urban settings, reflective and project based methods to gain cultural competence. Emphasis Three: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math (STEAM)Students may choose this emphasis if they are interested in elementary STEAM methods. Courses are geared towards effective assessment, computer and digital learning and overall appreciation of twenty first century learning methodologies.
    The Education - Curriculum and Instruction program of California State University Los Angeles provides educators with the opportunities for the development of skills and knowledge to conduct inquiry, to design curriculum and instructional programs, to implement programs, and to assess the success of those programs in the K - 12 school levels.
