    Overview

    This double degree provides a unique skill set that blends technical expertise with knowledge of business management, entrepreneurship and innovation processes.

    Throughout your studies, you will build knowledge and skills across business, applied science, computing and engineering, to address 21st-century societal and industry challenges.

    The condensed program structure means that you can complete your double degree in 5.5 years, significantly less time than it would take to complete two single degrees.

    Upon completing your studies, you’ll have an excellent understanding of engineering, applied science, computing, business and innovation management. The breadth and depth of this knowledge will give you the unique expertise and mindset to solve complex challenges in business, society, and industry (both locally and globally) and prepare you for the future of work.

    Bachelor of Engineering

    You will begin your Engineering course with the Engineering Foundation Year, gaining a solid grounding in core engineering principles and skills. You’ll then select your Engineering major from the following choices:

    • Chemical Engineering
    • Civil and Construction Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Industrial and Systems Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Metallurgical Engineering
    • Mining Engineering

    Bachelor of Innovation

    The Innovation component covers essential business management, innovation and management subjects, and you’ll become proficienct in the following areas:

    You’ll also complete several immersive transformational experiences so that you can apply your knowledge in real-world settings.

    Other requirements and notes for this course

    This course is five and a half years full-time or equivalent part-time study. All majors in this course are available to international students studying in Australia on a study visa. July intake: Course duration may exceed five and a half years due to unit prerequisites.

    In addition to the course-specific admission criteria listed above, please read our general admission criteria. Our general admission criteria apply to all courses at Curtin University.

    Applicants require an ATAR≥80; Mathematics Methods ATAR; at least one of the following: Physics ATAR, Chemistry ATAR, Engineering Studies ATAR. Desirable: Mathematics Specialist ATAR. STAT is not accepted for entry but may be used to meet English Competency requirements.

    1. Gather your documents

    Have your supporting documents to hand, and ensure they meet our guidelines. The documents may include certified copies of your qualifications, English language proficiency documents and supplementary forms for certain courses.

    If your documents are not issued in English, an official translation from a recognised translation service must be provided.

    If you have undertaken previous study or work that matches the content of some of your Curtin course units, you may be able to obtain credit for recognised learning, which exempts you from studying those units.

    2. Submit your application

    You can apply direct online through our Applicant Portal. You can access the Applicant Portal by:

    1. Navigating to the relevant course page
    2. Click ‘Apply now’
    3. When the pop-up window appears, select “Apply directly to Curtin University”.

    If you want to package your course with a Curtin English course, you can submit your application with your course application documents to streamline the process.

    3. Accept your Curtin offer

    If your application is successful, you will receive an offer that you will need to accept or reject.

    If you accept your offer, you will receive a Confirmation of Enrolment ­– a document from Curtin that details your course, how long you will be studying the course, and the tuition fees. This document can be used for acquiring a student visa.

    4. Apply for your visa

    Apply to the Australian government for your student visa. Gaining a student visa will allow you to participate in full-time study in Australia and work up to 40 hours in a fortnight. If you’re under 18 years of age, you must have approved accommodation and welfare arrangements in place before a visa can be issued.
