The English major at Avila

English students at Avila combine creative writing and textual analysis to produce graduates who will understand how to communicate with a wide array of audiences. Diverse readings highlight social justice and inform students on contemporary social and media issues.

Small classes and immersive courses mean students have many opportunities to develop skills and build their portfolios thanks to hands-on teaching from professors who knows what it takes to begin your career.

• Applicants with a bachelor’s or master’s degree GPA of 3.0 or higher will be considered for admission without submitting a GMAT score report
• Applicants with less than a 3.0 GPA will be required to submit a GMAT report with a score of at least 420 prior to full admission
• Business degree applicants holding professional degrees, such as an M.D., D.O., or J.D., are waived from GMAT requirements
• All applications will be considered by the admissions committee

Be Prepared for Your Career

Incoming first-year students are guaranteed access to an internship or research experience before graduation. Avila English students have completed hands-on learning experiences at: 

• Blue Valley Northwest High School
• Literacy KC
• McCownGordon Construction

Once awarded, this is an ongoing scholarship, paying up to 50% of your graduate business degree tuition per enrolled term. The amount of the award will be based on your merit point ranking. To continue your eligibility, you must carry at least 9 graduate hours per academic year and maintain an overall 3.5 GPA.

How to apply:
In order to apply for the Competitive Merit Scholarships, the following information must be received at least three weeks prior to the beginning of a class term.
