Overview The General option of the English program of California State University Los Angeles is intended for those pursuing a liberal arts education with special emphasis on literature and writing; students can focus their General option programs by taking electives in one of several defined tracks or individually tailor their programs in consultation with the departmental adviser.Students majoring in English must obtain departmental advisement prior to or during their initial quarter of major coursework. Those majoring in English are urged to acquire command of at least one language other than English.The total number of units required for the Bachelor of Arts degree in English is 120 units, of which 49-51 units are in the major.
