    About

    Bachelor of Arts in English

A Bachelor of Arts in English degree from KSU provides an in-depth study in the many disciplines within our department, including literature, cultural studies, writing, rhetoric, linguistics, theory, and film. Of particular significance are our screen and TV writing courses and our professional writing courses that support students interested in a range of writing careers, video game storytelling, nonprofit writing, digital content production, and creative writing.

We also have four minor programs–Professional Writing, Film, Linguistics, and Language & Literary Studies–that allow students from all disciplines across the university to pursue courses in specialized English studies programs.

Our program emphasizes experiential and high-impact practices and career-focused courses through classes and activities that engage students in local and global communities to learn and apply the skills and knowledge acquired through this degree.

The "senior seminar" is a capstone course where students select a theme from various topics and engage in a semester-long class for in-depth research and writing as well as the production of a final major project. These projects emphasize primary and secondary research, writing, editing, and oral presentation practices.

With a B.A. in English degree from KSU, you will learn how to research, think critically, analyze and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Whether you're interested in teaching, writing, or any of the other various opportunities available to you, the English program will prepare you for your personal and professional career goals.
