    About

    Funding 2022/23
Funded places may be available. You will be notified if you are eligible for a funded place within your organisation once you have applied.

This module is for adult critical care nurses currently working in critical care. It addresses the guidelines for critical care nursing as described by the Critical Care Nurse Education Review Forum, incorporating the Critical Care National Competency Framework Step 2.

The module addresses the complex care required by critically ill patients enabling you to develop your evidence-based knowledge and skills to support effective clinical decision-making. There is emphasis on safely and effectively integrating knowledge and evidence to support clinical decision-making.

Due to restrictions on group sizes, this module for October 2020 is delivered online. You work through a mix of online interactive seminars and sessions. The sessions are based on case studies and scenarios, and encourage you as a multidisciplinary practitioner to enhance your individual learning needs, while networking and extending your knowledge and practice base. You use the University's virtual learning environment e-learning@tees.

In the interactive sessions, you share experiences with professionals from a variety of other acute and critical care areas. You identify your own learning needs and undertake self-directed study through e-learning@tees with workbooks and pre-seminar reading.

You undertake a formative self-assessed mock exam prior to your summative assessment.
Your summative assessment consists of two components:

    – Component 1 (100%) is a seen scenario-based exam (after the completion of the taught sessions.) Assessment is at level 7.

    – Component 2 (pass/fail) is completion of the Critical Care Nurse Education Review Forum National Competency Framework Step 2

You are required to complete all step 2 competencies within 6 months.
