About the course This major provides students with an understanding of how different environments are able to respond and plan for sustainable futures. This requires a detailed knowledge of principles of environmental planning and design, and how these can be applied to diverse situations. This course provides students with skills in data collection and analysis, spatial planning, land use assessment and landscape design, all of which are essential tools in this field. Throughout the major there may be opportunities for domestic field trips, including overnight field trips. In addition, students can opt to participate in exciting overseas fieldwork units, with recent destinations including Bali, Barcelona and Seattle. Studying this major provides pathways to postgraduate degrees including the Master of Landscape Architecture, the Master of Urban Design, the Master of Urban and Regional Planning and the Master of Environmental Planning. Careers in this major are diverse, and include roles in the private sector, government and not for profits, both within Australia and internationally.
