    About this degree

    The programme aims to equip students with the skills, methods, concepts and theories essential for most fields of European culture, society and thought, encompassing the events, traditions and texts of the entire continent. Students learn how to present material effectively, to analyse texts critically and to construct coherent arguments. Supervision and teaching is available from world-leading researchers from SELCS and CMII, with 83% of SELCS-CMII research activity being graded 4* ‘world leading’ and 3* ‘internationally excellent’ in the REF 2021.

    The programme is designed for students who wish to pursue a wide range of interests within a flexible combination of core and optional modules. Students select either the Taught or the Research pathway depending on their personal focus and aspirations.

    Entry Requirements

    A minimum of an upper second-class Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard.
