    When you study for your event management degree at UWL you will be ideally placed in London, the heart of the UKs events industry and one of the biggest events capitals in the world. With work-based learning opportunities built into the course, you will have the chance to experience a wide range of events. As part of your coursework, you will be involved in planning and organising events; you will learn to effectively bid for contracts, work on client briefs, carry out risk assessments, design presentations and produce reports. Your work will integrate key areas of event management including operations and logistics, public relations, marketing, technical and production expertise. Our courses offer opportunities to discuss issues arising from the Covid crisis and examine solutions from a sector perspective. Our course content is developed with support from a wide network of sector professionals to include changes in the industry. The Covid pandemic is creating challenges for the industry but is also driving innovation and change across the sector.     This event management course will explore the factors that affect todays industry and will build your understanding of consumer behaviour. A combination of academic insight and practical case studies will prepare you to plan and organise events, from music festivals to conferences, integrating all areas of event management, including: operations and logistics public relations and marketing sponsorship creative design technical and production. While you study, you will have the opportunity to experience the industry first-hand via work accreditation or through part-time work opportunities. And, with famous London event spaces such as Wembley Stadium and the Hammersmith Apollo nearby, you will be well placed to experience some of the biggest events in the country. To ensure our event management degree provides you with a solid foundation for the work environment, you will complete a range of: client briefs work-based case studies risk assessments design presentations essays project work teamwork live event projects client bidding workshops industry reports Our central location and extensive industry connections will link you to paid work experience opportunities and frequent sessions with industry guest speakers. We encourage you to take advantage of these in order to start building useful contacts and developing your personal brand within this exciting industry. Placement* You can also take this course with a 40-week full-time placement after your second year (Level 5). This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the workplace and have the chance to expand your network. You will be assessed with a work-in-progress report and return to study when the placement is over. Your report will contribute to the assessment for your Dissertation/Business Project module. *As we are in unprecedented and unpredictable times, there is no guarantee that you will be successful in securing a placement in the UK in the future. If you choose a course with a placement/internship route we would like to advise you that if a placement/internship opportunity does not arise when you are expected to undertake the placement then the University will automatically transfer you to the non-internship route. This is to ensure you are still successful in being awarded a degree. The placement route for this course is open to UK students only.

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on an undergraduate degree:

    • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma (from a minimum 25 points depending on course)
    • Diploma from community college, Intermediate Diploma or Associate Degree (Pass with 60%).
    • British/International A Levels (from a minimum 112 UCAS tariff points depending on course)
    • Second and final year entry of a bachelor's degree may be available for those with a Higher National Diploma (HND) from the UK with a merit profile

    English Program Requirements

    You need to meet our English language requirement - a minimum of IELTS 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening). We also accept other English language examination equivalents. Contact our International Office to find out more. You also need academic qualifications at the same level as UK applicants. In some countries where teaching is in English, we may accept local qualifications. Check for local equivalents. We offer pre-sessional English language courses if you do not meet these requirements.     The skills you learn on the BA (Hons) Event Management degree will make you a strong candidate for employers in the events industry in the UK and abroad.

    Many of our graduates have also gone on to start their own successful events business with support from the University. 

    Some of the areas of events you may work in after graduating include: corporate events, exhibitions, gala dinners, festivals, concerts, conferences, product launches, roadshows, fashion shows, celebration events (weddings, christenings, etc), parties, cultural events, sporting events and fundraising events.

    You could also advance your studies with one of the postgraduate courses available at the London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism.

In addition, you are required to submit a start-up idea pitch. This 500-word (max) document should clearly outline the following three aspects: a brief description of your business idea that you want to further develop during your MA studies in what capacity you have worked on the business idea so far (eg has this developed from your final year project during your undergraduate degree? Are you running the business already out of your living room? etc) where you expect the business to go by the end of the MA programme (specific objectives for the 12 month period).
