    About

About the course The Financial Economics Extended Major is unique to WA and sits within our Bachelor of Economics degree. This major has been designed specifically for students who wish to combine an economic understanding of money and banking, with a practical knowledge of how financial markets operate, at both a domestic and global level. You’ll learn core microeconomic and macroeconomic principles, as well as develop an understanding of the important role that money and banking play in an economy. Course content will cover monetary economics, banking in theory and practice, international finance, and how money, banking and financial markets operate. Coupled with developing deep knowledge of money, banking and financial markets, you’ll also develop your quantitative data analytic skills which are highly sought-after by employers. You’ll gain expertise using our world-class Trading Room, developing skills using the software and technology found in large modern financial institutions. Towards the end of your degree, you’ll gain valuable practical skills by either undertaking an internship with a private or public organisation, or through an industry-based project unit. This major is ideal for student's looking for a career in central banking, or in the private financial sector.
