    About

Overview The French (teacher education) program at Ithaca College will refine your language skills through diverse course options, classroom discussions, film analysis, and practice in the language lab. In Le Cercle Français, the French club, you will speak French with other students, and you may even sample crepes and madeleines or dance at a disco night. You will also have the opportunity to live in Quartier Français, the French-language residential learning community where you can improve your language skills; participate in cultural events such as lectures, music, and art performances; sample traditional cooking; and learn more about the life and culture of the people who speak French. And like most of our language majors, you may also pack your bags and study abroad in Aix-en-Provence, Paris, Avignon, or Nantes.OutcomesIn addition, you'll learn how to prepare lesson plans, motivate your students, and use technology to enhance the classroom environment. You may begin as a teaching assistant in an introductory language class as early as your freshman year. In your senior year, you'll teach French in a middle school and a high school where you will gradually assume responsibility for a full teaching schedule under the supervision of a master teacher.Students in the teacher education program in French work toward initial teacher certification for grades 7 through 12, and most land jobs immediately. Our graduates have also earned doctorates and taught at the university level, and some teach abroad. I want to find another Bachelor Course
