Do you not know German (yet)? Do you want to study in English in Germany? Are you curious about studying in an intercultural environment? The Freshman Institute of the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences, a public university, has the answers. We make access to the German university system significantly easier for international students. The Freshman Programme is the foundation year (Studienkolleg) at the FH Aachen. Students study in small groups in a unique intercultural environment, expanding their intellectual horizons while preparing for a future in today's global economy. The Freshman Campus is only a short train ride away from the German cities of Aachen, Cologne and Dusseldorf as well as near Belgium and the Netherlands. A year at the Freshman Institute will benefit you for a lifetime! More than 300 students successfully complete our programme every year. Our students are motivated and engaged young people from all over the world. Depending on your study preferences and language skills, you can choose between the different tracks offered in the Freshman Programme: German Track â€“ completely in German â€“ Study engineering, medicine or business and economics. Previous knowledge of German is required. English Track FeP - completely in English â€“ Study engineering or business and economics. We offer guaranteed admission in business and economics to selected universities and Bachelorâ€™s degree programmes after the Freshman year. Previous knowledge of German is not required. English to German Track â€“ transition from English to German â€“ Study with guaranteed admission to engineering or fine arts and design at selected universities and Bachelorâ€™s degree programmes after the freshman year. Previous knowledge of German is not required. During the 11-month Freshman Programme, students receive a solid preparation for university study, including: Engineering: mathematics and physics Medicine: biology, chemistry, and physics Business and economics: business mathematics and economics Fine arts and design: prepare your portfolio Engineering students in the English to German Track also complete a practical training/internship in the university laboratories. Our team of experienced language teachers offer intensive language courses in English and German. At the end of the Freshman Programme, students take their final examinations. Personal and soft skill development also play a central role in the Freshman Programme. In addition to academic courses, a variety of workshops and intercultural training ensure that students can unfold their talents and practice teamwork, presentation skills, and other skills required both at university and in their careers.
