    Overview Basic Degree Information/DescriptionThe Geography program of The University of Texas at San Antonio is especially designed to give students insights into a variety of regional social, environmental, and economic problems, and to exploit the strong international connections that the geography faculty have established. The program aims to provide rigorous training that prepares MAs for entry into Ph.D. programs at UTSA and elsewhere, and to offer career advancement for terminal MA students from the city and region. Faculty will encourage students to become involved in professional geography through pertinent internships, conference presentations, publication, and membership in the Association of American Geographers. Why pursue a Master of Arts in Geography at UTSA?We have a diverse and highly trained faculty who offer a range of courses in human and physical geography and geographic methods.We emphasize obtaining research skills that are in demand in the public and private sectors.We are developing study abroad opportunities in Latin America and Europe.Career OptionsFormer students are urban and regional planners, environmental analysts, GIS specialists, Foreign Service officers, and teachers of geography at the high school and college level. Students are obtaining advanced graduate training at widely-recognized graduate programs, nationwide.
