German-French Double Degree Master's Programme in Physics

    About

One programme – double degree conferred by two renowned physics institutions Institut Polytechnique de Paris and Freie Universität Berlin The benefits of the programme are obvious: You will study in Berlin and Paris and gain a double degree conferred by two institutions that are well known for their physics research. Year One You will spend the first year in Berlin and accomplish a number of modules of your choice. Year Two In the second year, you will join a scientific research group in Paris and write your Master's thesis. For a detailed description, see Department of Physics, Freie Universität Berlin. The consecutive, research-oriented Master's course builds upon the Bachelor's course in physics. The prescribed period of study is two years (120 credit points). Entry into the double degree programme is possible at the beginning of each winter semester. Students spend the first year at Freie Universität Berlin and the second year at Institut Polytechnique de Paris. We prepare students for international careers The goal of the programme is to prepare students for international careers in advanced research and research-heavy industries in which a broad and deep understanding of modern physics is a prerequisite. As a Master's student of physics, you will be involved in running projects and will be a part of our diverse scientific community. We are strong in biophysics, quantum physics and ultrafast surface physics The Department of Physics at the Freie Universität Berlin is strong in both theoretical and experimental physics, with groups focused on molecular biophysics, nanosystems, ultrafast physics, and quantum physics. The department is also home to research centres in the areas of nanoelectronics, quantum computing, photosynthesis, and catalysis as well as to Dahlem Center for Complex Quantum Systems.
