The Master of Science in Global Media and Cultures (MSGMC) combines the nationally recognized disciplinary strengths of Georgia Tech’s Schools of Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC) and Modern Languages (ML) into an exciting multidisciplinary opportunity. The collaboratively taught curriculum offers a humanities-based graduate education to students interested in merging new media skills and competencies with linguistic and intercultural expertise. Multidisciplinary expertise in the study of media forms and technology, along with advanced training in a critical global language, will add value to students who seek employment in international business, government, or global development and service, including those working in organizations focusing on social entrepreneurship, civic engagement, sustainability, advertising, public relations, journalism, and broadcasting. The opportunities for applied cross-cultural and comparative training embedded in the degree will be useful for individuals working as communication managers in corporations, non-profits, and government and for those working in creative media arts, including cinema, and television.
The M.S. in Global Media and Cultures takes one year to complete (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Students take 30 credit hours of course work, have a concentration in one of the available languages (Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish), defend a professional portfolio, and complete a final project.
