    Graduate Certificate of Management

    About

The Graduate Certificate of Management (GCM) will equip students with a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and application in the management disciplines within an evidence-based management (EBM) framework. The GCM is both a standalone program and a pathway to our Masters programs for those who do not meet the traditional entry requirements for an ANU Masters program.

In addition to the three elective courses from within the Research School of Management, all students will study the Evidence-Based Management course. It is divided into two sequential modules. The first module equips students with knowledge about EBM and how it strengthens decision-making and practice in business and organisation. In module two, students will learn how to appraise evidence quality before applying it to support decisions and actions. Students will thus be able to not only translate principles from best evidence to management practice and ethical decision-making, but also to reflect on how to use evidence and their position to improve on their learning experience.

Research School of Management graduates complete their studies having demonstrated knowledge and skills characteristics of:

    • Evidence-based thought leaders
    • Innovators and pioneers
    • Collaborative problem solvers
    • Responsive and resilient professionals
    • Effective communicators
    • Internationally informed managers
    • Ethical and responsible decision-makers
    • Professionals with technical business competencies
    • Responsible decision-makers

The higher of the two calculations will be used as the basis for admission.

Ranking and English language proficiency: At a minimum, all applicants must meet program-specific academic/non-academic requirements, and English language requirements. Admission to most ANU programs is on a competitive basis. Therefore, meeting all admission requirements does not automatically guarantee entry.. In line with the University's admissions policy and strategic plan, an assessment for admission may include competitively ranking applicants on the basis of specific academic achievement, English language proficiency and diversity factors. Applicants will first be ranked on a GPA ('GPA1') that is calculated using all but the last semester (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree used for admission purposes. If required, ranking may further be confirmed on the basis of:

  • a GPA ('GPA2') calculated on the penultimate and antepenultimate semesters (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree used for admission purposes; and/or
  • demonstrating higher-level English language proficiency
  • Prior to enrolment in this ANU program, all students who gain entry will have their Bachelor degree reassessed, to confirm minimum requirements were met.
