    Career

    Career outcomes

With increasing technological complexity and a drive for sustainable practice across sectors, your engineering management skills will be essential for overseeing project goals. Your technical insights and communication will empower you to help clients and stakeholders make informed decisions. In a world of constant and rapid change, you can make it possible to achieve both functional and aesthetic goals within efficient timeframes

You could identify a cause of energy waste and influence stakeholders to invest in an innovative new process for solar energy storage. Maybe you’ll streamline workflows, improve safety checks, and promote better inter-disciplinary communication within the maritime defence force. Or perhaps you will initiate an in-house mentorship program in your work culture to dramatically improve team satisfaction and growth.

As an engineering manager, you could work in a wide range of industries, including:

    • Technology and software development
    • Healthcare and biotechnology
    • Clean energy and net-zero industry transition
    • Automotive and transportation
    • Construction and infrastructure
    • Manufacturing and consumer utilities
    • Aerospace and defence
    • Government and public service
    • Networking and technical sales.

    Industry trends

As population growth escalates, climate change effects increase and technological advances become more embedded in our way of life – your technical adaptability will become indispensable.

Across every sector in engineering, the Australian Engineering Labour Market Overview predicts a near-exponential rise in employment opportunities as we rush to meet Australia’s net-zero climate commitments for 2050. There is a current skill shortage projected to only increase, with engineering leaders and project managers in high demand.

Graduates of our program will find ample opportunities in their fields of interest, including computer science and AI technologies, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, sustainable energy, construction and urban planning and the defence force.
