Overview

Do you want to specialise in relationship, child, youth and family counselling? With UniSQ’s Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Child, Youth and Family Therapy) you will gain knowledge and expertise to assist couples and families.
Learn to assess a couple’s or family’s needs, and to provide an appropriate intervention and articulate strategies of engagement.
Examine the specific methods of engagement and intervention with child and youth clients, including developmental considerations for intervention and child abuse prevention.
While the study is mainly online, you will be required to attend mandatory residential schools at UniSQ Ipswich campus associated with four designated courses to meet the required number of hours of face-to-face instruction and ensure you have the best possible skills preparation.

Entry requirements

A bachelor's degree from a recognised university.

English language requirements

You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study with our English language partner, the Union Institute of Language (UIL).

English Program Requirements

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to gain credit (advanced standing) towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
