    About

    Overview

    • Gain the advanced knowledge and expertise to prepare for, or extend, your practices in a range of specialist counselling areas, as well as fulfilling part of the requirements towards eligibility for professional counselling association membership with UniSQ’s Graduate Diploma of Counselling.
    • This Graduate Diploma of Counselling is designed to build specific counselling assessment and intervention skills for working within a range of contexts and with a wide variety of issues and populations.
    • You’ll learn to apply contemporary theories and models central to counselling assessment, and client-centered therapy, that is both trauma informed and culturally sensitive.
    • Upon completion, our Graduate Diploma of Counselling allows you to articulate directly into the second year of the Master of Counselling, giving you the opportunity to fulfil your counsellor training.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    • Completion of an Australian university 3-year bachelor degree, or equivalent, with a GPA of at least 4.0 out of 7.0, and a minimum of 3 years' relevant professional work experience at management or supervisory level.

    English language requirements

    You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

    Recognition of prior learning or work experience

    If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

    English Program Requirements

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to gain credit (advanced standing) towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
