    Health Care Management iBSc

    About

The doctors and dentists of the future increasingly need a good grounding in management. This is particularly true for those who will be entering the British health care system, where management is now an intrinsic part of medicine and dentistry but unfortunately is not an intrinsic part of their respective curricula. An increasing number of doctors and dentists take on management roles in their careers. In hospital trusts doctors are taking on important and influential roles such as Medical and Clinical Directors and within primary care there are an increasing number of significant and powerful management roles that GPs and dentists are taking on, particularly with the advent of Clinical Commissioning Groups. Individuals with combined clinical and managerial skills are able to link the traditionally different worlds of management and medicine/dentistry and thus make important impacts within health care organisations. This combination of skills also serves individuals well at a time when, for young doctors and dentists, traditional pathways are both overcrowded and in a state of constant flux.
